Big Week(s) for Ferris Athletes

Since this class of 2008 was a bunch of rug rats the word has always been "That class of kids is something else."  Well, that word is coming to fruition.  With the success in football (the likes of which Ferris has rarely, if ever, seen), a basketball state championship and another predicted run in the playoffs, this group of young men - as the saying goes - just know how to win.  With the teams success comes the individual awards and recognition - along with opportunities to play at the next level.

This page will be a place to give some recognition to the successes of the class of 2008.  Congratulations!!!

Shawn Stockton

Signs Basketball National Letter of Intent to attend University of Montana
November 14th

Today, senior Shawn Stockton made his intentions known.  He will be attending the University of Montana next year to play basketball at the D1 level.  Stockton was the 4A State tournament MVP last March helping the Saxons win their basketball state championship.  Shawn is also on the Ferris football team, who is still in the playoff hunt.

Stockton was recruited by a number of area colleges and ultimately decided on hoops at the University of Montana.  U of M gives Shawn a chance to play immediately at the next level and will allow his family a chance to watch him compete.

University of Montana is in the Big Sky and currently is picked to win that conference, which ultimately means a berth into the NCAA tournament.  U of M head coach is Wayne Tinkle who is a graduate of Ferris High School and attended the University too setting numerous basketball records.

Congratulations Shawn and good luck!!  Go Griz!!

WR Jared Karstetter #84

Jared Karstetter

Living the dream
Nov 8,Spokesman Review

The decision of Ferris football receiver Jared Karstetter to become a Washington State Cougars football player was the fulfillment of a goal.

"It's always been a dream to play in the Pac-10," the Saxons' three-sport standout said.

Karstetter was last year's Greater Spokane League basketball MVP, but he said he always liked football more "ever since I was a kid." Karstetter has 133 pass receptions for 1,859 yards and 21 touchdowns overall. His 54 catches and 765 yards as a junior were third most for a single league season in both categories. He had the second-most yards, 1,464 over three GSL seasons.

He said the Cougars told him he would play an outside receiver.
