Ferris vs. Rogers

The Saxons got off to little bit of a slow start but finished strong with a convincing win over the Rogers Pirates - 51 - 14.  On the first possession of the game the Pirates marched right down the field and scored a touchdown and two point conversion to go ahead 8-0.  From then on it was all Scarlet and Silver.

The Murphy Brothers (Senior Ryan and Sophomore Mackenzie) combined for 4 TD's to really put the Pirates out of reach.  Ryan Murphy rushed for a game high 124 yards and 2 TD's.  His brother Mackenzie had his second interception return for a TD and a kickoff return for a TD.

Along with the Murphs, on the defensive side of the football, Scott Ward had two interceptions along with some pass deflections, Senior Byron Stevens had another big game and Sophomore Eric Cheadle made his presence known with some big time hits!

Two big hits of the game were Ryan Murphy teeing off on the Rogers receiver that had just caught a ball over the middle and CJ Patrick "de-cleating" a Pirate on one of Scott Wards interception return.  Both were hits worthy of making it on the ESPN plays of the week.

The Saxon team performance allowed some second teamers to get Varsity action and they all took advantage of their moment.  Sophomore QB Jeff Minnerly played very well and showed that he could not only throw the ball but was able to scramble and took a bad snap for a seventeen yard gain.  Jonathan Watkins and Adrian Milsap also made some nice carries with Watkins scoring his first Varsity TD.
