Ferris vs. CV
10/20/06Game #8
Another great
Saxon Effort
The Ferris Saxon varsity football
team put together another complete team effort to
beat the Central Valley Bears. The Saxons
proved to be the superior team on both offense and
defense. The offense getting nearly 400 yards
and the defense holding the Bears to under 200 total
yards.
First the offense. This was
a balanced attack as the Saxons had 180 yards on the
ground and 186 yards passing. The rushing
attack was lead by Nate Tonani and Jeff Minnerly who
had 61 yards and 54 yards, respectively.
Tonani scored his first touchdown of the year on a
44 yard option play. QB Jeff Minnerly threw
for 186 yards with Jared Karstetter having the big
game receiving. Karstetter had 134 yards and
2TD's.
The Defense. Talk about
stingy. The defense held the Bears to 4 first
downs until part way through the 3rd quarter. Ferris
stuffed the run and defended the pass well.
The only touchdown that CV scored was in the 4th
quarter. Pat Parham, Mckenzie Murphy and Eric
Cheadle all had big nights defensively.
Next week is the end of the
regular season. The Saxons face winless Rogers
at Joe Albi at 5:45pm. It will be Senior night
and the evening is sure to be charged with lots of
emotion.
The playoff situation seems to be pretty well
set for Ferris and Prep with the 3 spot still open
to LC or U-High. Here's what we know about the
Columbia Basin League.
