Ferris vs. Rogers
10/27/06Game #9
Saxons Finish
the Season Strong
Although the game didn't start the
way the Saxons expected, it did finish the way they
expected. The Rogers Pirates came out and took
the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown and
before the Saxons new what happened they were down
7-0 to the winless Pirates. Ferris was quick
to respond and the route began.
Led offensively by QB Jeff
Minnerly, the Saxons scored nearly at will on
the overmatched but big hearted Pirates. The
Saxons had over 450 yards of offense. Minnerly
had 254 yards passing and spread the ball around to
his receivers. His 5 touchdown passes went to
4 different receivers and tied a GSL single game
record for number of passing TD's in a game.
RB McKenzie Murphy had a strong night running
as well. He had 89 yards and two TD's.
The Saxon D came up big on this, the final game of
the regular season. They held the Pirates to
just over 200 yards of offense and forced 5
turnovers (2 fumbles and 3 INTs). This strong
performance allowed everyone to get into the game,
which is a great way to finish the season.
Nice win boys - but now it's time
to forget it and focus on Moses Lake. The game
next week is Saturday at Albi Stadium at 1:00pm.
Winner goes to State and loser is done for the
season. Congratulations Coach Sharkey and boys on a
great season.
Note: CV pulled off the
upset win over U-High on a last minute interception.
The Bears victory puts the LC Tigers in the playoffs
as a 3 seed.
