It just wasn't right...Saxons
lose to Bothell in State 4A Semi's
The Ferris Saxons outstanding football season came
to an end on Saturday afternoon as the Saxons lost to the Bothell
Cougars 14-7. In a great high school football game, the Saxons and
the Cougars slugged it out in a defensive battle.
Bothell struck first on their first possession.
They marched down the field and converted a key 3rd and 26 and
eventually scored on that drive. The Saxons were unable to even the
score until the beginning of the second quarter with a Minnerly to
Karstetter TD connection. The game was tied at 7 at the half.
The third quarter the Saxons started out and had a
long (around 7 minutes) opening drive but were unable to get any
points out of the drive as Dexter Bellings kick sailed wide left.
In the fourth quarter, Bothell scored with about 3
1/2 minutes remaining and the Saxons put together one last drive.
They made three different 4th down conversions on this drive and got
to the one yard line - 1st and goal. It was looking like another
miracle Ferris comeback. And then the unthinkable happened. A
fumbled center-quarterback exchange. Bothell scooped it up and with
that the Saxons season ended. While the loss is tough, it just
wasn't right to have it end that way...
Congratulations to the Saxons on an amazing year
and congratulations to the Bothell Cougars on your victory. Good
luck to you next week!
