Ferris wins in a Battle
In what proved to be the Saxons
toughest game of the year so far, Ferris beat the Mead Panthers
28-17. This game took big efforts and big plays from everyone
on the team to get the job done - for instance:
- QB Jeff Minnerly goes 14-15
for 174 yards, 1 TD and 0 int.
- WR Jared Karstetter has his
biggest game of the year, 115 yards receiving, 1 TD and also
threw a reverse pass to Aaron Roberts for 39 yards.
- RB Mckenzie Murphy had his
first 100 yard game (109 yards on 8 carries) and scored 2 TD's
- Adrian Milsap blocked his
second punt of the year and fell on the ball in the end zone to
score a decisive TD.
- Nathan Tonani made a key
interception as the Panthers were threatening and returned it 34
yards.
- The Offensive Line as a unit
probably had its best game of the year.
Overall, it was a great team
effort and a great win. Mead scored to take the lead in the
third quarter, 14-10,
after a 7 1/2 minute second half opening drive. The Saxons responded with
a nice drive of their own and were able to score on a beautiful pass
and catch (Minnerly to Karstetter) to take the lead and never look
back.
Next for the Saxons are the U-High
Titans next Friday at University @ 7:00pm.
