The Ferris Saxons football team had a
nice trip to Canada over the weekend of July 7th and 8th. They won the 7
on 7 passing tournament, beating westside powerhouses Eastlake and Skyline in
the semis and finals, respectively. They beat both teams by one point in
close, hard fought games. |

Led offensively by the quick striking
offensive duo of Jeff Minnerly and Jared Karstetter (Offensive MVP), the Saxons
were able to convert 3rd downs and score when needed. Defensively, the
Saxons were lead by Mackenzie Murphy (Defensive MVP) and Shawn Stockton (All
Defensive Team) who were able to come up with big stops.
The combination of both offense and
defense playing well at the same time made Ferris a very tough team. Unbeatable
this weekend. Coach Sharkey was pleased the way the team came together,
"The first day, although we won our games, we struggled, but the second day the
kids really came together."
