Ferris Finds a Way in a Big Way

If you missed the Ferris Football game on Friday night, well, let's just say you missed a great high school football game - some would say epic.  The Saxons fought off a miserable first half of football, tied the game at the end and won in overtime by a score of 41-35 over the stunned Aztecs of Esperanza.

The first half of the game the Saxons played tight and gave up yard after yard as the Aztecs ran roughshod over Ferris.  The Aztecs ran for over 200 yards in the first half alone and pushed the Saxons into a deep hole leading 28-7 after two quarters.

At half, the Saxons made some adjustments, didn't panic and started a comeback that left the Aztecs stunned and on their heals.  While the offense was outstanding - Connor Halliday threw for 420 yards and 5 TD's -, it was the defense led by Pete Anderson that made the biggest difference for the Saxons.  The defense controlled the running game and forced a turnover into six points as Anderson ripped the ball away from an Aztec ball carrier and ran into the endzone.  It was a pivotal play in the game.

Congratulations to the Saxons on their win, it was a huge win for them, for the GSL and for Washington stated football.  It showed the boys in Cali, that we know how to play football up here in the northwest.
