Saxons "Snap Out Of It" Get Back on Track
It was a slow first half for the Saxons. As Mead put together a long drive that ended with a FG and put the Panthers ahead 3-0, the Saxons struggled to get things going. In the second quarter, the Saxons forced a fumble deep in Panther territory, recovered and the offense made quick work of the short field. Connor Halliday hit Jordan Tonani for a seven yard TD reception to put the Saxons up 7-3. Ferris would threaten again with less than a minute to go, again deep in Mead territory, and decided to forego a FG attempt and go for it on 4th down. The fourth down attempt failed, Mead would take a knee and that is how the half would end.
The second half the Saxons found a renewed sense of themselves and in the third quarter imposed their will on the Panthers. That Saxon will came in the form of #38 Brendon Olson who scored three - yes three - touchdowns in the quarter. By the end of the third quarter the score was 28-3 and Ferris was now in a position to manage their possessions and play good solid defense. Oh, and Olson had some key plays on defense to - tipped passes, shoestring tackles and overall creating havoc for Mead.
Mead would score one more meaningless touchdown in the fourth quarter and the Saxons finished the game with their second victory of the year. The Saxons now prepare for the other north side school, Mt Spokane , who beat up on NC 51-6.
OLD MAN MINN NOTES: The Saxons looked average in the first half, it was nice to see them come out with some fire in the second half.... Drew Sharkey got his first career interception in the third quarter setting up a TD run....Some other people who OMM thought had good games - DB Cody Sorenson has seemed to have improved a lot over the last two weeks, OT Trevor Poole handled WSU bound DE Aaron Dunn quite nicely and LB Peter Anderson, as usual, had his nose in a lot of tackles and had a HUGE hit on special teams kick off coverage....Next week the Saxons face 3A favorite Mt Spokane (3-0) in what is sure to be a battle.

The
Ferris Saxons football team survived a sluggish first half found
what they needed to at halftime and rolled to a 28-10 victory over
the Mead Panthers. Something that that they found was Brendon
Olson who had a career game in the 3rd quarter.
