Ferris vs University

The game on Friday night never felt like it was out of control, however, in the first half it never felt like it was in control.  The Saxons plagued with turnovers and penalties let U-High hang around until scoring three times in the 3rd quarter and putting the Titans away for good and winning the game 45-14.  With the win, Ferris secured a GSL Co-Championship that they split with Central Valley.

The Saxons were unable to put the Titans away in the first half as they suffered from three turnovers. The last turnover, the Titans converted  into a touchdown and the Saxons led 17-7 at half with the momentum certainly swinging towards Uneversity.

In the third quarter, the Saxons got their offense in motion and the D got stingy.  The Saxon scored three times in the third.  The running game for the Saxons proved to be strong.  In the third, Aaron Roberts scored one of his three rushing TD's, Kevin Wright got his first TD as a Saxon and Connor Halliday rushed for a 44 yard TD score.  The Saxons amassed 195 yards on the ground led by a returning Stephen Horning who rushed for 89 yards.

The Saxons finish the regular season 8-1 and are the number 1 seed from the GSL.  As the number 1 seed, they will be playing the #3 seed from the Big 9, which is Pasco.  That game is scheduled for FRIDAY NIGHT November 7th at 8:00pm.

OLD MAN MINN NOTES:  Congratulations to the Saxons for securing a piece of the GSL Championship...It was good to see Stephen Horning back, running the ball and running it well, giving Gage Orosco a break and allowing him to concentrate on D....Turnovers and penalties - and not to state the obvious, but the Saxons need to limit these to be successful in the playoffs. Four turnovers and 105 yards worth of penalties won't cut it against the better teams....Couple big hits from some senior boys on the D line - JD Robinson and Elliot Bosch were aggressive and tenacious all night long - good to see....A new season starts now boys....
